Halcyn Wharf
ED Specialists ACDC Lighting, have just completed the LED Lighting for Halcyn Wharf at St Katharine Docks – the first of many such developments to incorporate the latest LED technology. A first class development overlooking the Thames, Halcyn Wharf uses several of ACDC’s wall wash luminaires including Cubeus, Vertigo and Minicubeus to create striking visual effects on the stairwells of this 4-storey development. Remarkably Cubeus and Vertigo are designed to IP65 for Exterior use, although the primary reason for their use in this interior application was their long life, low energy characteristics.
The project architect Philip Edwards of Vienna Property said, “The incredible intensity and excellent choice of colours enabled us to design a concept never previously conceivable.”
Halcyn Wharf is one of several riverside developments along the Thames to utilise ACDC’s Luxeon products. Waterman Quay at Chelsea Harbour is due for completion at the end of March, and is the first project in the world to be lit entirely by LED’s.
