Local MP visits ACDC as part of Campaign Trail

PRESS RELEASE FROM GORDON PRENTICE MP.

ACDC is one of Pendle’s major success stories - the 70 strong firm has projects on the go all around the world. And, here at home, they are lighting up the Olympics.

Gordon Prentice, Labour’s parliamentary candidate today visited the Barrowford HQ to see the operation for himself.

The company which designs, manufactures and markets advanced lighting solutions, is growing fast helped by a Government grant to develop state-of-the-art equipment.

The £24,200 grant, from the Local Enterprise Grant Initiative (LEGI) is helping to design and build a machine that will curve glass tubes to match the contours of the building being lit. It will enable tubes to be shaped five times faster than at present and will help further speed up the production process

Gordon Prentice comments, “The Chief Executive, Gareth Frankland and the Marketing Manager Mark Wolstenholme, told me of the company’s astonishing growth. Things really started to take off with the contract to light up Trafford Park and they haven’t looked back since then.”

“Despite the global economic downturn ACDC continues its phenomenal growth by designing groundbreaking  and exciting products and leading the world in the application of LED lighting technology.”

“Almost all the staff based in Barrowford are from East Lancashire.”

“ACDC really does have an international presence with recent contracts including the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai - the world’s tallest building – and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona.”

Prentice added: “It is vital to safeguard local jobs and provide essential capital for local companies during these difficult times. The Government’s LEGI initiative is just part of the raft of measures to safeguard jobs and help businesses survive the world economic downturn, following the 2008 banking collapse.”
