Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre Extension
The oldest shopping mall in the heart of Manchester is the Arndale Centre and after undergoing extensive rebuilding and refurbishment following the bombing of 1996, has more recently seen a new mall development which houses some of the best in mainstream fashion stores. At one end, in the Atrium there is a glass lift shaft which is dramatically lit using ACDC Lucina RGB colour change fittings, the scheme was designed and supplied by Independent Lighting Specialists of Manchester.
RGB colour change Lucina strips are housed in sections on each floor of the lift shaft. There are 6 floors and in total there are 91 Lucina strips ranging in length from 600mm to 1200mm which are individually addressable via DMX control.
The lift shaft is programmed to various colour schemes, each day of the week being different, with a spectacular light show on the hour every hour. Paul Welbon of Independent Lighting Specialists comments; “It was a challenging concept and installation but working closely with ACDC Lighting we managed to overcome the difficulties and be rewarded with a stunning effect.”
