The Sales Engineer (Retail) will be responsible for promoting our brand to seek opportunities within UK retail sector’s physical premises (Regionally and Nationally) to complete the following large scale projects:

 

  • Roll-Out
  • New Install
  • Re-Fit

 

The Role

The successful applicant will have significant experience in an executive sales engineer capacity related to lighting in the retail sector with extensive lighting industry - design/sales - experience/knowledge.  Excellent knowledge of luminaires and design. Ideally, may have your own individual client base. You will be highly motivated and determined to succeed.

The Responsibilities

Market Research - Carry out market research to identify/determine customers who will potentially receive ACDC’s LED and Cold Cathode products - using relevant sources, eg ‘Glenigans’ national database information, ACDC client database, personal networking routes, web-based searching and ongoing relationship management with existing and new accounts  – to continuously carry out market research to remain appraised of current customers’ requirements and to conduct market research to identify new customers/sectors and all potential leads.

Route to Market - Determine the most appropriate method – eg matching of high-end specification product(s) to customer, identifying the “fit” from the existing product range or recommending customised special designs - to take the ACDC product to each individual new/existing customer, by identifying the customer profile and their business needs, the type of physical project(s) ACDC can potentially support for the client. Ensuring the most appropriate product is placed before the client at the right time to meet their specific lighting/design/environmental needs. 

Sales Appointments - Communicate (phone/email/networking) with new and existing clients to arrange meetings/events/site visits to demonstrate the benefits of ACDC’s product range. Prepare relevant corporate literature/catalogues and physical sample(s) based on planned route to market strategy to promote the suitability and relevance of the recommended products to meet the customer’s current requirements.  Where appropriate demonstrate how such products can potentially be compatible with other suggested ACDC products for use at a later stage. 

Communications -Route A” Appointment Follow-Up – progress all client requests and take necessary action to proceed to sale, within the timescales set by the client and/or ACDC, eg send email communication to verify and confirm details of estimate/full quote, arrange loan of physical sample, remain in regular communication with internal ACDC staff to progress the business, consider alternative designs eg “special project” and refer to UK Sales Manager as appropriate. Continue progression of task until closure to meet (or exceed) targets. Maintain ongoing relationship(s) (and client profile) throughout the client’s business.

Project Scoping – Maximise sales opportunities by translating concepts to technical solution (‘design to manufacture’) seeking advice from colleagues internally as apt and/or using software tools as appropriate to create innovative and bold lighting solutions.

Communication - “Route B” Appointment Follow-Up – following the opening client meeting, maintain appropriate contact, eg send email communication, follow-up call within the timescales agreed with client and/or ACDC. Expand contacts throughout each client to maximise ACDC sales potential. Continue progression of relationship (and maintain client profile)  and promotion of relevant ACDC product range.

Project Management -  Scope the project’s communication strategy and plan for the ongoing management of the project in close liaison with the relevant parties as apt – originating client, tendering agents, architects, designers (interior, lighting, exterior etc), consultant engineers, electrical contractors and all other parties.  Using relevant tools (eg Glenigans) map the necessary interdependence between all parties to identify their needs and manage the relationships effectively. Co-operate with the necessary groups/individuals to ensure the delivery of a successful project on time and to budget, to the agreed quality standards. Report any changes forecast, risks and issues to the project on an ongoing basis using project tracking techniques.

Educational Presentations – Deliver Continuous Professional Development (CPD) seminars to educate professionals in the general awareness and application of LED and/or Cold Cathode lighting to ensure their ongoing professional competence in their field and to maximise the opportunity for business development and networking.

Exhibitions - Attend scheduled exhibitions/conferences (ARC, Frankfurt) and engage with new and existing clients by promoting new and existing ACDC LED and Cold Cathode products.

Management & Information Reporting -  provide (weekly or as directed) highlight reporting to UK Sales Manager and (monthly or as directed) in-depth updates/meetings on project plans and key performance indicators, to ensure set targets are being achieved and all effective routes to sales and relationship development are maximised.   Regularly (daily or as directed) feed/update the relevant information systems (CRM, ERP etc) with new data/management information and all changes to existing data/management information.

Self Development - Take a proactive approach to own self development to demonstrate competence in the relevant skills, knowledge, attributes and qualifications necessary to perform effectively.  Maintain a current knowledge/intelligence of the market place, trends and emerging technologies and report this information accordingly (see 9 above).

THE ROLE

To control the administration of the Company’s purchase invoices.

 KEY DUTIES

  • To ensure that incoming invoices are registered on receipt and correctly verified, matched to purchase orders, authorised and allocated to the Purchase Ledger.

 

  • Control all aspects of the Purchase Ledger system, including month end reports and procedures.

 

  • Answer demands and queries direct from suppliers and regularly reconcile statements.

 

  • Ensure that all invoices are paid timely as per agreed terms and monitor invoice queries, liaising with the relevant department for clearance.

 

  • Follow up on defect and shortage notes ensuring correct replacements/credits are received.

THE ROLE:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1 Provide customer based solutions based around ACDC Lighting Portfolio.  Where no ACDC solution exists, advise customer of possible “Pro-ACDC” solution.

2 Liaise and provide admin support for “in-field” sales engineers to further develop relationships with customers to provide response and effective service.

3 Pro actively project track and monitor to assure order placement on all projects where necessary

4 Follow and liaise with all key accounts to develop relationships further and increase sales

5 Record, analyse and produce reports detailing individual account performance, sales activity, forthcoming projects etc.

6 Respond to and follow up sales enquiries using appropriate methods

7 Use relevant systems including CRM and Sage to produce and analyse KPI’s and project reports

 Operation of the Pick & Place Machinery:

  1. Screen print solder paste on to PCBs (Printed Circuit Board)
  2. Programme and operate pick and place machine
  3. Operate the reflow oven
